4th Straight Year for Lucky 7 Angus to Host Fund-Raiser, Membership Drive Riverton, Wyo. (April 2, 2008) – For the fourth consecutive year, R-CALF USA Member Jim Jensen, owner of Lucky 7 Angus, hosted a bull sale and a membership drive to benefit R-CALF USA. The recent event generated $2,800 for the organization, which was the average of the sales proceeds. Jensen also signed up 17 new R-CALF USA members, while five others renewed their memberships. During each of the past three years, the Jensens have donated anywhere from $2,500 to $5,000, and signed up dozens of cattle producers to become R-CALF USA members. “R-CALF is the only organization out there that’s not politically motivated to support the packers, but instead, is totally supportive of cow/calf producers,” Jensen said. “If R-CALF makes a mistake, so be it. I’d rather be with R-CALF, not some organization that’s tied to my competitors.” Activities carried out by R-CALF USA for the benefit of the U.S. cattle industry are funded exclusively by the independent cattle producers who pay their membership dues and by cattle producers, main-street businesses, and other individuals who participate in, and contribute to, fund-raising events. R-CALF USA works on various issues that affect independent U.S. cattle producers, such as country-of-origin labeling, livestock price reporting, animal health concerns, captive supplies and packer ownership of livestock, as well as various trade agreements. # # # R-CALF USA (Ranchers-Cattlemen Action Legal Fund, United Stockgrowers of America) is a national, non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring the continued profitability and viability of the U.S. cattle industry. R-CALF USA represents thousands of U.S. cattle producers on trade and marketing issues. Members are located across 47 states and are primarily cow/calf operators, cattle backgrounders, and/or feedlot owners. R-CALF USA has dozens of affiliate organizations and various main-street businesses are associate members. For more information, visit www.r-calfusa.com or, call 406-252-2516. |
